The Sundanese Kingdom has a strong historical record. Even the kings and figures there have their own legends that are always remembered by the people. Each of these legends is also formed in the collection space of the History of Sundaland Museum. As the name suggests, we are about to tell stories about everything related to Sundaland. A living space that holds all the mysteries of the oldest continent and the people who supported each era. The next movement focuses on prehistoric humans, the power of the kings with their various conflicts, and the transition from the Hindu-Buddhist era to Islam. This doesn’t even include the various cultures that have formed up to the present day.

When visiting the History of Sundaland Museum, visitors will be invited to explore 17 incredible collection zones:

1. Stage and Performance

this first zone, there is a stage where visitors can perform dances or dramas.

2. Origin of Life

The second zone tells the story of the “ORIGIN OF LIFE” of prehistoric humans in Sunda Land. Visitors can watch a film about the formation of the earth and the beginnings of prehistoric life in Sunda.

3. Discovery of Prehistoric Human Fossils in Pasundan Land

The discovery of Paleontological sites in West Java began with the finding of vertebrate fossils from fauna in Cijulang. In addition, tools from the Paleolithic era were also found in West Java, representing one of the oldest forms of prehistoric culture.

4. Stone Burial and Austronesia

Southeast Asian populations, both from the mainland and islands, dominated by Austronesian migrants, had advanced knowledge in the early centuries AD before foreign influences arrived. One of their developments was the creation of a cultural foundation based on spiritual practices, such as honoring ancestors. This had a significant impact on their burial culture.

5. Krakatau Eruption and the Baduy Tribe

Java and Sumatra were once united. Along with Borneo, they formed a landmass called Greater Sunda. The separation of Java and Sumatra is believed to have been caused by the eruption of Mount Krakatau. This theory, supporting the separation of Java and Sumatra due to the Krakatau eruption, is referenced in Pustaka Raja Purwa, written by the Javanese poet Ronggowarsito in 1869.
